When things aren't quite going your way, check in on your emotions. Are you feeling emotionally high or low (not bad or good or right or wrong)? If you are feeling low - sad, depressed, angry, jealous, nervous, frustrated, etc - say it out loud. To push it down and pretend it's not there is like pushing down against a spring. As soon as you get distracted, and forget to press down, it will all explode.
Once you've addressed where you are, listen to your intuition as to what to do next - for me, if I'm feeling down, I just watch a funny youtube video, or if I'm feeling overwhelmed, I simply replace the 'overwhelmed' in my speaking with the word 'excited'. Listen to yourself, and feel your emotions rise.
And if you're feeling emotionally high, embrace it. Since we're not robots, we will feel the highs and lows, but the sooner we accept where we are, then state and feel the emotions we want to have, the more time we'll spend in the space in which we want to be.
